f2S FINALForward 2 School Event Celebrates Students and Parents Community members join to support students for new school year

Portsmouth Public Schools is pleased to partner with Portsmouth Schools Foundation and Portsmouth community partners for a Forward 2 School event on Saturday, August 20. The event is geared towards preparing parents and students for another year of academic success. Portsmouth students K-12 and their parents are encouraged to attend the event for a day filled of fun activities, games, food and motivational speakers.

Parents will have the opportunity to attend School Readiness Workshops. The workshop allows parents to learn how they can play an active role in homework and studying throughout the year.

Students can enjoy inflatable attractions and activities. Lunch will be served throughout the event at no cost. Portsmouth Fire and Rescue and Police Department will provide safety lessons. Bright Smiles will offer free dental screenings for students of all ages at the event. Free vouchers for haircuts and sneakers will also be available on a first- come, first-serve basis.

At the end of the event, each student will receive a free backpack filled with school supplies. All backpacks were donated through a community-wide drive held in July.

The event will take place on Saturday, August 20, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at I.C. Norcom High School. Students, parents/guardians, and community partners are encouraged to attend. The event is free and open to the public
